HOT Class

Heavy Lifting and Stabilization is a pinnacle of the rescue company. Through use of struts, airbags, hoisting equipment, and extrication tools, as well as the assistance of local resources such as tow truck drivers, complex situations can be handled efficiently. This class will help introduce and reinforce rescue tactics and culture into your members, as well as provide skills that they can take home to help promote growth in your department.

Protective helmet, jumpsuit/protective pants/jacket, gloves, and eye protection are required.

Lecture Series

Chad Szeklinski is a 27 year veteran of the Milwaukee(WI) Fire Department, where he holds the rank of Heavy Equipment Operator and is assigned to Truck 1 on Milwaukee’s Southside. Chad has a passion not only for the fire service and teaching, but also has a passion for operating apparatus. Vetted at FDIC in 2015-17, Chads Lecture entitled “Street Smarts From A Driver’s Perspective” aims to help create the proactive, hardworking drivers that we as firemen hope for.

Chief Knitter’s lecture, “Fighting Fast Food Fires” covers a fire occurring in 2000 that claimed the lives of two Houston, TX firemen in a collapse. It’s easy to overlook this everyday hazard that exists in nearly all of our communities!
